Coralle Zangi — EMDR Therapist NYC

Evidence-based.
Proven effective.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy approach that helps people process traumatic memories and the distressing emotions attached to them.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR works directly with the way traumatic memories are stored in the brain. Using bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), it activates the brain's natural healing process — allowing distressing memories to be reprocessed so they no longer trigger overwhelming emotional reactions.

The result? Relief from trauma, reduced anxiety, and the ability to move through life without being hijacked by the past.

Common
questions
about EMDR

Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?

No. EMDR doesn't require you to describe your trauma in detail. You'll hold the memory in mind while processing — without having to verbalize everything that happened.

How many sessions does EMDR take?

It varies. Some people notice shifts in just a few sessions; complex or long-standing trauma may take longer. We'll assess your needs together and move at a pace that feels safe for you.

Is EMDR done in person or via telehealth?

Both. EMDR can be effectively delivered via telehealth using specialized online tools for bilateral stimulation. I offer both in-person sessions at our Upper West Side office and telehealth.

Will I feel worse before I feel better?

Some clients do experience temporary emotional activation as memories are processed — this is normal and part of healing. I'll always ensure you have coping tools in place before we begin processing.

Is Coralle fully certified in EMDR?

Coralle has completed EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Basic Training (2025) and is trained to provide EMDR therapy. Full EMDRIA Certification is a higher designation that requires additional hours of practice and consultation beyond Basic Training.
